A cramer style classical cello bow

A Wilhelm Cramer style classical cello bow

£95

Item code VCTB2

This bow has a brasilwood stick, and a bone button. The internal screw and nut are metal, which is probably inauthentic, but durable. The frog is probably African Blackwood

The bow has a fairly heavy weight for this type of bow at 81g. As is typical of this style bow the weight is distributed heavily towards the tip with a balance point of 285mm.

The head design, swept in both directions, results in stronger upbows, reducing the disparity of strength between upbows and downbows. The heavier head also contributes to the tip-heavy character of the bow.

This bow has been made starting with a modern shaped stick, a cramer style all wood frog has been used and the tip has been converted to the cramer style battleaxe shape by use of a wedge, and longer tip plate.

The bow handles easily and is well controlled.

The tone is smooth and balanced, and fairly warm.
