Hiscox make very strong and well made cases - this is their deluxe cello case
This case is also available in black instead of ivory shell, and with burgundy velvet interior instead of green.
The ivory shell is slightly stronger material, and also reflects heat better, keeping your cello cooler, so thats the one we stock.
The deluxe case is fitted with a hygrometer
Hiscox liteflite cases are made with a layer of moulded hard foam (not just carved expanded polystyrene like some other cases) bonded to the inside of the ABS shell, this stiffens the whole case so it stands up more rigidly, especially in the open position, as well as providing great shock absorbtion. Many other hard cello cases save size and weight by minimising the lining, but this can defeat the whole point of the case by allowing the cello to hit the inside of the shell when there is an impact.
The hard foam covers the whole inside of the case, and there are additional soft foam pads at pressure points, to hold the cello snugly in place.
This case come with heavy duty back straps
Compared to the standard case, the deluxe case has the following enhancements.
- Hygrometer
- 2 leather shoulder handles instead of one plastic shoulder handle
- deeper neck padding
- larger upper and lower bout side pads
- 2 stripes of back padding
- padding at bottom around base of instrument
- pocket seals with velcro instead of drawstring
- much more luxurious fabric interior in a choice of green or burgundy
- scroll retainer loop - helps prevent the cello falling out of the case even if the neckstrap is undone
- the 2 part double moulded shell construction is the same on both cases
